According to the latest Rightmove stats: Properties in Basildon had an overall average price of £306,051 over the last year. 

The majority of house sales in Basildon during the last year were terraced houses, selling for an average price of £273,109. 

Detached properties sold for an average of £488,943. Flats sold for an average of £174,588. 

Overall, sold prices in Basildon over the last year were 5% up on the previous year and 6% up on the 2018 peak of £287,411.

Transport

The location of Basildon makes it very convenient to travel by train, car, or bus to popular locations. The town enjoys three train stations on the popular c2c line at Basildon, Laindon and Pitsea with 35 minute rail services to London Fenchurch St station and to Shoeburyness station with the seaside towns of Southend-on-Sea, Westcliff-on- Sea and Chalkwell along the way.

Basildon is serviced by the A127 and A13 main roads into London with both roads linking to the M25 motorway, Dartford Crossing and in the opposite direction to Southend-on-Sea.

Both main roads link to the nearby A130 which provides easy access by road to Chelmsford and the wider Essex region.

There are also good bus links locally and to surrounding areas plus routes into London, to Stanstead Airport and Lakeside Shopping Centre which has hundreds of retailers.

Airports

Basildon is well served with airports within easy travelling distance for those wishing to travel abroad.

Southend Airport is just a 25 minute drive with destinations all over Europe.

Stanstead airport is just a 45 minute drive and handles Europe and wider destinations.

Heathrow Airport which handles longer-haul destinations is around 80 minutes by car via the easily accessible M25 motorway.

Gatwick Airport also handles longer-haul destinations and is around 60 minutes by car via the M25 motorway.

Basildon boasts a vast array of employment opportunities with major companies, including: financial services, engineering, retail, light industrial, tech, office-based, construction and many more.

Towngate Theatre

Some say the theatre is the “jewel in the crown” of living in Basildon. Located in the centre of Basildon, the theatre is a great venue for live entertainment offering a wide range of productions throughout the year to suit all ages and tastes – dramas, comedies, thrillers, musicals, ballets, operas, tribute bands, children’s productions and many more. Their annual pantomime is well renowned and for two years running was awarded a 5 star review from The Stage.

Basildon Golf Course 

If you like golf, you’ll love the full 18 hole course situated in the Kingswood area of Basildon.

It has a driving range, a clubhouse and has held the British Open Putting Championship. It also has some stunning views towards the River Thames and Kent coast.
